Bullying Prevention for Educators

Teachers, Administrators, Guidance Counselors, and all other school personnel play a critical role in school-wide bullying prevention efforts. The best way to prevent bullying behavior is to promote a positive school climate where all students and staff feel respected and safe. While the UpStanders Program focuses on empowering students to combat bullying, it is crucial that students feel they are being supported by the adults at their school. Schools that implement the UpStanders Program are provided with teacher trainings to help educators recognize bullying behavior and address the behaviors in ways that support all students.

Educators are also encouraged to sponsor an after-school club called ‘The UpStanders Club” for student leaders that are interested in special projects related to bullying prevention. UpStanders Club members have created PSAs, held school-wide poster competitions, presented at conferences, and much more.
