I sincerely hope that this letter finds you well during these challenging and uncertain times. For all of us at the Holocaust Center, the health and safety of our community is our top priority. Like you, we have been closely monitoring the CDC’s recommendations, as well as those of Mayor Demings and Mayor Dyer, to decrease the spread of coronavirus, or COVID-19, and flatten the curve. Therefore, our Board of Directors has made the very difficult yet necessary decision to cancel the Dinner of Tribute scheduled for April 23, 2020. While we are very disappointed that we’re unable to host this annual gathering, we are exploring unique ways to honor Mayor Demings and thank him for his outstanding leadership. Please stay tuned.
The cancellation of our dinner leaves the Holocaust Center nearly $300,000 short on funds that would have been generated from this event. Like other nonprofits reliant on fundraising events, we depend heavily on our annual Dinner of Tribute to help fund our educational and cultural programs as well as our ongoing operations. In light of these extraordinary times, I’m writing to ask that you please make your contribution to this year’s dinner a fully tax-deductible donation to the Holocaust Center. If you have an outstanding pledge for a dinner sponsorship, we are asking you to please honor that commitment. Should you wish to speak with us about your donation, please contact our Development Director, Kathy Turner at firstname.lastname@example.org.
We are so grateful for your support and understanding as we navigate these unknowns. And finally, we encourage everyone to stay safe and healthy as we look forward to continuing our great work and spending time with you again soon!
With gratitude and well wishes,
