FOURTEENTH ANNUAL TEACHERS' INSTITUTE

The Holocaust Memorial Resource and Education Center of Central Florida will present The Fourteenth Annual Teachers' Institute on Holocaust Studies at its premises, 851 North Maitland Avenue, Maitland, Florida, from June 15th through June 19th, 2009. This institute is presented at the direction of the Florida Education Commisioner's Task Force on Holocaust Education. A major goal is to equip teachers to fulfill the Florida Legislature's Holocaust Education mandate

The program of resources, workshops, lectures, discussions, and survivor testimonies has been designed to provide teachers with maximum exposure to the subject of the Holocaust and its important lessons for modern society.

Hands-on workshops and classroom teaching strategies will be featured. A museum tour constitutes one of the most important aspects of the curriculum. Significant films will be screened as a part of the curriculum.

All seminars and workshops will be led by Holocaust scholars, curriculum specialists, historians, and educators trained at Yad Vashem (Israel's National Holocaust Memorial Center), or the United States Holocaust Memorial Museum.

The early registration fee (before May 15, 2008) is $75. The regular registration fee is $100. Meals and text materials are included. Participants may receive inservice credit upon request. The Holocaust Center will help to facilitate this process with your school district.
