Dr. Seuss Wants You! presents a little-known aspect of the works of the renowned American artist and author, Theodore Geisel. Geisel, better know as Dr. Seuss, wrote and illustrated dozens of children's books. They have been translated into 15 languages and there are now over 200,000,000 copies in print.
Before he acheived lasting fame as an author, Ted Gesiel produced political cartoons for PM, a New York newspaper. These cartoons, done in the inimitable "Seuss" style, dealt with topics important to the U. S. in the World War II era. Recognizing the dangers of Fascism and Nazism, Geisel confronted America with the issues our country was ignoring: isolationism, racism, anti-Semitism and the willingness to appease. Typical Seuss characters taught about the courage to care and to act. Over half a century later, these cartoons retain their ability to challenge and to inspire. The messages transcend the immediate events to deal with timeless moral issues and are full of lessons for the entire family.
