Valeria and Jim Shapiro thrive on bringing people and organizations together because they understand that working in concert with one another strengthens us both individually and as a community. It is because of this passion for building bridges, and their dedication to the Holocaust Center and its mission, that we have chosen to honor this amazing couple.
They have been a part of our family for almost two decades. Jim has served as a board member for 15 years, including two terms as president and Valeria chaired the Dinner of Tribute twice. Most recently they spearheaded the Holocaust Center’s partnership with the Orlando Shakespeare Theatre, where Valeria is a board member, to produce “The Best of Enemies” – a powerful play about race relations and school desegregation in the 1960s as part of our Center’s 50th anniversary celebration of the Civil Rights Act.
The Shapiros are remarkable leaders who are passionate about making the world a better place. Besides the Holocaust Center, Jim serves as a board member of Seniors First, and last year they received the Jewish National Fund’s Tree of Life award for their commitment to community involvement and devotion to peace.
In addition to recognizing the countless contributions the Shapiros have made to the Holocaust Center and our Central Florida community, we will also celebrate the Holocaust Center’s 30th anniversary. Over the last three decades the Holocaust Center has embraced its mission by building bridges of respect, understanding and inclusion throughout the community.
Your generous sponsorship of this event will enable the Holocaust Center to continue building bridges in our Orlando community through vital programs like our UpStanders: Stand Up To Bullying initiative. In addition to sponsorships, you may recognize the Shapiros and our Center with a special message in our dinner program. Click here to download the program ad order form.
